Dr Purabi Bhagabati, MSc, MTech, PhD

I am a polymer scientist with research interests in sustainable polymer science, specialising in the synthesis processing, and characterisation of bio-based and biodegradable polymers. I currentl lead the PEForm project, funded by the Goverment of Ireland, which focuses on developing sustainable polymer materials for future applications.

My research combines fundamental polymer science with practical solutions to address environmental challenges. I enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary academic and industrial partners to advance sustainable materials research.

I welcomw enquiries from students interested in polymer science, as well as opportunities to collaborate with researchers, research organisations, and industry.

PEForm Project

Funded by the Research Ireland Pathway Programme and the EPA, PEForm is a transformative research initiative developing sustainable synthetic platforms for polyethylene furanoate (PEF).

Project Vision

To establish advanced, scalable, and environmentally sustainable methodologies for synthesizing polyethylene furanoate (PEF) as a high-performance biopolymer alternative to conventional petrochemical-based polymers. We envision a future where innovative green chemistry transforms industrial polymer production.
